  • Happy 100 RAF

    Happy Birthday RAF.
I know its not just about the fly boys and I am very biased as my son has been in the RAF Regiment since he was 18.
5 tours Afghan (weeks outside Bastian)
    2 Iraq
    1 Falklands
    1 Uganda

Thank you all for keeping us mud dwellers safe, sad and fascinated.

R.I,P Ted (RAF Reg) H still misses you.

Not so much patriotic Sal but I do believe that we, no colour, religion, sex or wealth are caretakers of our beautiful planet.
The armed forces both get and loose far more than us non types will ever know.
I’ve heard first hand the memories from Afghan and they are soul destroying.

So, being the daft eleflump I am I just wanted the services, the RAF and the RAF Regiment to be recognised in circumstances that are sometimes horrific.

My second fil was in the RAF. Flew during WWII. Also flew over South Pole to drop supplies for Vivian Fuchs expedition. My grandpa was an observer for the Royal Flying Corps in WWI. At University (RMCS) the RAF students were lovely. Perfect gentlemen. Respect.

Watched it just opposite Buckingham Palace. Excellent display must have taken lot of co-ordination.

Sad to note that some, probably desk pilots, wouldn't fit in an aircraft! RAF should put them on treadmills so they have a chance of drawing a long pension.

              Every shape counts I suppose.
Life would be very boring if everyone looked exactly the same.

I saw a recent news item where a presenter went up in a WW1 plane to experience what it was like for those brave lads with very little training to fly over the battlefields to do their best for us. How they managed to do what they did is unbelievable! I went to Ypres last year to tour the battlefields which was a very sobering but strangely good time. I'm so glad that all who fought in whatever wars are still being remembered.
I work very hard so please don't expect me to think as well!
