    Taken side shoots off a determinate tomato plant. Will they grow back?

    My interfering plot neighbour has 'helped' me (new, female - apparently clueless) by taking off the suckers from my tomato plants in my greenhouse.

    What he didn't know is that I'm growing a determinate cherry tomato. As it stands I have fruit trusses on the top and no suckers.

    I suspect it's doomed. Can anyone educate me about how the plants season will now pan out?

    Well there are two options.
    1) Compost it.
    2) Wait and see what happens.
    Tomatoes love to produce suckers so as it grows I am sure more will appear.

      Not grown one of those myself, but my guess is more will develop - you could tr mounding up some compost a bit round the base of the plant in the hopes that will cause it to root out a bit and invigorate things.

          I grow Tumbler every year And always nip out the leader to encourage side growth.

          I would replant it as deep into the compost as possible to encourage root growth (as above) and I suspect that by the end of the season you will have not noticed much difference.....

              I think it'll be fine. I don't think it will regrow from where the suckers have been removed, but it'll carry on one way or another. I'd have a word with Mr Helpful though.
