  • Ideas for a toilet on my plot?

Hello, I’m going to build a toilet on my plot as my 4 year old lad loves to come down and do a bit with me but there’s only so much weeing behind the compost bins we can both handle, so with summer hopefully on the horizon we are going to be spending a lot more time down there so just need to make it as homely as possible, so I just want to hear ideas/advice on your toilet solutions.

    Cheers

    Hi and welcome.
    I can't really help with advice as I don't have a plot!
Do you have a shed? and..............if I may be personal, are you a Mum or a Dad as Dad's seem to cope anywhere.

It would sound on the face of it that the easier solution would be to get a chemical cassette toilet similar to those found in a touring caravan, I believe free standing versions are still available. But you would have to transport the sealed waste compartment to a main drain / mains toilet to empty it. Alternatively look in to building a composting toilet.

sounds like a designated bucket in the shed, and empty onto compost heap, would be ideal for the liquid, male or female, before our site had a compost loo,we sectioned a bit of the shed of with a camping loo, took it home, down the man hole and a good wash with the hose pipe, needs must.
If you not got a shed, are you able to make a free standing frame/fenced off area to put a bucket.

          Number ones or number twos?
Widdle is easy to deal with - liquid gold -.
          Poo is another matter altogether

Hi I’m a dad and yes i do have a shed but I’m wanting a separate area for the loo, I’ve recently built a 10x15ft base which I’ve put a 8x6 shed and 8x6 greenhouse on which leaves me 3ft in the middle for said toilet, I was thinking either camping toilet or a bucket in a cupboard sort of thing with a seat on the top, as the lad will happily go anywhere, and I certainly won’t be throwing his babba on the compost although I could use that as a excuse when I get a dodgy crop of onions ha! Thanks for all your help x

Just get a paint bucket with lid if #2. #1 is compost heap activator.

I'm not convinced that putting the toilet between the shed and greenhouse will offer the privacy you are after, well not from one side anyway.

Should that not be 3 sides?

Went walking in local wood ... Saw what I thought was a hide, only to discover it was a toilet seat over a hole.

Shed on stilts, with netting round frame to prevent animal ingress.

Perhaps similar with a regular supply of sawdust

It’s not going to be a toilet just sat there, there’s going to be walls around it! Ha might have the green house side open though as that looks straight down the plot, a poo with a view, I think I’m going for 3x2 hut with a camping toilet in it, solar light and fan, vents in the sides and a sloping room for rain run off in to shed guttering, thanks for your help.

Sounds good, if you fancy it you could partially board the back of the greenhouse and put a window in so you can keep your dignity and have a good view still. Getting proper fancy you could make a hatch you could open and close so if anyone else wanted privacy they could close the window

Lady on our allotment has a small shed as a toilet. Camping cassette toilet, small shelf for hand wipes, etc with mirror, painted white ply inside, very homely.

She put a skylight - used the roof type Perspex and felted over a surround to make it all watertight. Gives nice light while still privacy.
