Is this 13 Litre pot ok for the Courgette Plant.

You will get some courgettes in a pot, but the only really successful courgette in a pot that I have grown was at least twice the size of that. They like a lot of water and a lot of space. Although I have found you can grow them really well close together when planted in the ground (the things you find out when you literally have no choice due to a small garden). -

You'll need to feed n water it a lot. Can you not plant it out in t'soil ?sigpic

Its definitely fine for a month or so - I'd be looking for something a bit larger for permanent quarters. If you don't mind being on permanent watering duty you might get away with that size I suppose - you've got a bit of space to add more compost to the top after a while, which always helps - best advice grow it like that for the time being, and see how in goes.Comment

Well, it might but then again the bigger risk for a plant that size will be water/feed.
It looks big enough to shrug off slug attack I think. Courgettes are at the hardier end if the cucurbut family.sigpic

As I said, I'd leave it as is for now - quite apart from slugs or no slugs the warm weather we've had over the last few days may easily turn cold again, if it does you can move the pot in side. If it was my plant I'd give it a month, then plant it out in the groundComment

I'll be growing a courgette (Tromboncino) in here.
It's probably somewhere around 50lt.
It'll be filled with a mix of well rotted manure and home made compost. All big tubs like this get treated with nematodes to avoid any slug / snail problemsComment

That's probably something like a working minimum for a full sized courgette plant - does it have any drainage holes ?Comment

Last year I put 4 good sized courgette plants in the ground and all were devoured in one night by slugs and snails, so this year it will be large pots.Comment
