  • East facing window box suggestions

I am a complete novice at this so any advice welcome

I have built two window boxes to go underneath some east facing windows that are 4 foot long and approx 7 inches deep and 6 wide I have lined them with membrane and painted them grey

My intention is to plant some bidens golden eye, marinka fuscia which is trailing ,calibrachoa can can and some mixed begonias as this is what I have at the moment

I am interested in some other ideas or peoples thoughts on whether this will work or not as they only get sunshine until midday

bulbs and corms are usually pretty reliable - you can get some which flower in the Summer, as well as the better known Spring and Autumn ones. Usually best to put them in to flower and then remove them afterwards, if space is limited.

Dahlias are lovely the bees love them too, they might be tall for a window? Some of mine did well in partial shade last year facing east, this is them in their second year of growing they’re bigger in their second year (this is last years photo taken Nov 1st) with nasturtium trained up the swing -
