Today I spotted a new bird species in my garden.. Bit fuzzy as I had to zoom in. A Ring-necked Parakeet.

As beautiful as they are, i'm not sure i'd be that unhappy if i never saw it again.

I've not got any intention of scaring it away, but thanks for the visit, bye.

It is indeed, a Ring-necked Parakeet, very aggressive invasive alien.

Give it the bus fare back to London, seasprout, we don't want posh pigeons up here
        Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
        Endless wonder.

No, no please don’t apologise..... after I read your post I realised I’d not written the species, so I snuck back to edit it in.

we get them a fair bit in London. Seems they, like everyone else, are moving north for the house prices...

Interesting they have appeared in Leicester(shire).
Have not heard of any here or eastwards in Essex, nor Beds.
They are "alien" to the UK, but watch the programs and it seems many of "our" wildlife are, 4 of the 6 deer species, several fish, phesants and even rabbits. There are many.

Some alien species are not good for our own native wildlife. Grey Squirells, Red Signal Crayfish, Mink etc

                    Kind Regards.............Rob

I have a what seems to be a juvenile Bush Stone-curlew in my garden. It's a big private garden and, whilst they often visit, this is the first one to stay, and I've been here for twenty years. I'm concerned as I have someone who mows the lawn and uses a ride-on. I can ask him to avoid the area where s/he tends to be. Will the mower scare her off anyway?

                        Hi and welcome.
Are you in Australia, lukas? Its not a bird we have in the UK so I've no idea how sensitive they may be to noise or disturbance, sorry. They look fascinating birds.

There aren't many in Suffolk yet, but as a keen birder I was thrilled to see one in the garden on 6 January. Ring-necks are beautiful, but you're right, they shouldn't be here. Much like magpies though, they're survivors, so you have to admire them to an extent. Not seen it since though

European bird VC, much like the one we get in the UK and both are very easily disturbed by noise.
