  • Apple Tree question

Hi. I was given a couple of apple trees about 3 years ago which I dually planted. These were 2 for £15 from a well known supermarket. Anyway there alive but have hardly grown and have showed no signs of bearing fruit. Am I missing a trick or are they just dud trees?

Could you post a photo please ?

Conditions in which they are grown, such as :- the surrounding soil, any near by trees etc all have an possible impact.

The trees from supermarkets, apart from often being v dry at the roots when bought, are usually OK . If you have kept the labels, any details from them would also be useful.

Is the ground around them "solid", just thinking they could be in ground that is difficult for them to send out roots into.

Where abouts are you? Really is useful to have a general idea of location. Sort of Kent you should be OK(ish), Shetland is a bit different.

I would say it is too late now to do much to them as in relocate them as the shock/change is likely to kill them off. I have managed that.

Any idea of the rootstock? Rootstocks for bigger trees tends to delay the fruiting and so flowering. One of the aspects of dwarfing rootstock is they start producing earlier - no idea why.

      Any particular varieties?
