I've had my Marigold flowers which are still small but have quite a few leaves on them in my house in different pots but I've now noticed the odd ones are shrivelled up and look dead. Is it the heat and should I now place in the greenhouse covering with a propagator lid at night?

Could you post a photo please ? I'd be very surprised if its heat, but its not impossible. -
I have thousands of bedding plants plus tom/peppers etc. and they all just seam to be hanging there with very little or no growth. Has anyone else got this problem.

tom/pepper/cucumber/courgette seem to be springing up though toms I sowed 3 weeks back are still very tiny.Comment

What sort of marigolds are they? French/African/Tagetes or English/Calendula. The latter are very hardy, the former are not.Comment

OK no worries - you probably need a longer posting history I expect.
If I had to guess I'd plump for "damping off" as the most likely cause - you can probably find some info and photos on the web to see whether your plants fit the frame or not.Comment

My marigolds ( allsorts) have been in the greenhouse for weeks Jane and are loving it in there overnight as well with no lid.
Toms are up the gh as soon as it reaches 9 degrees normally around 9am atm, and come back in the kitchen for the evening , peppers and chillis are a bit difficult atm because of the massively fluctuating temps but in general ill take them up gh around 10 am and fetch them in around 7pm 0r below 14 degrees, whichever arrives first .Last edited by jackarmy; 06-04-2018, 04:31 PM.Comment

Are they getting enough water? They’re quite thirsty the bigger they get. Ive been putting some of mine out on the patio the last couple of days,bringing them in at about 6pm

I sowed all those around January 15th started under lights then on the windowsill since March,my main lot of plants are way behind these & still in the seed trays,they need to go in 3” pots then they’ll go in the blowaway

I've got a tray of beetroot that germinated and are now about 0.5cm tall out in the GH.
Lack of space has meant that I've had to put some chillies out there too - they've noticeably slowed up but are about 5 cm tall and fairly healthy looking so I'm hoping they'll just see it as a 'toughening up' experience - they're not super hots so I'm optimistic for them.
I rather suspect that if I lived alone my home would look like some sort of 'bonsai veg jungle' this time of year ...sigpic
