  • Thornless blackberry

    Hi all
I have recently purchased a thornless blackberry 'Merton'. Has anyone else got one of these and please can you tell me how it performs as a trained against a fence.
    Thanks !

I had a Merton which fruited well. Against the fence should be fine as long as it's not in permanent shade. Don't have one at the moment though. I did give it a dollop of manure every spring, and you can easily get more plants by layering a shoot which should root easily.

My sister has had one for about 4 years now, it's doing nicely against her garden fence.
