    Freezing chives

    One of my favorite breakfasts is a bagel with cream cheese sprinkled with chopped chives.

    Could I freeze a bag of chopped chives ?
    Would they be anything like the fresh ones ?

    I would imagine they'd be limp
    Bung a few in now and take them out tomorrow - then you'll know, and you can report back
    Can't you pot up a few and bring them indoors to overwinter?

        Cut six shoots yesterday afternoon and popped them in the freezer. In one of those plastic trays you get mushrooms in. They were suitably snipped up using scissors.

        Had a bagel this morning so tried them.

        When they came out and were still frozen they sprinkled OK
        Once they hit the plate they defrosted and went mushy.
        But still usable.

        Conclusion, yes it works.
