I'd like one of these on my plot. There are plenty of bushes nearby, can they be propagated by cuttings or something?

I managed to get them from soft wood cuttings in GPC. I think I've got one in a pot somewhere if ya want to come and get it lol.

Hmm, thanks for the offers - maybe if I look around the base of nearby bushes I'll see miniatures growing?

You could with permission try deadheading someone's bush & spread the seeds on your plot? I've had mine for over 15 years it's never spread anywhere in my garden I don't feel like its a weed but I have seen them on train tracks growing like weeds,I wonder if mine hasn't spread because of the deadheading & cutting back every year?

                  Hardwood cuttings strike very easily.

If you can wait till September/October the bushes should be reduced to prevent wind damage. This'll produce loads of cuttings.

You should make a note of any choice bushes now whilst still in flower. There's loads of good cultivars, far better than the bomb site self sown ones. If you can find it try Buddleja x weyeriana 'Sungold'. It's yellow and has longer flowering period.
