I planted a dozen apple varieties all 2 year olds on mm106 the winter before last and didn't bother to stake anything. They have all grown well and each have 5-6 apples on them. None of them was worried by last night's wind except Rajka which has put on 2x the growth of the others, which was obviously more than its root system liked. I have uprighted, staked and given it a severe summer haircut to reduce its windage if we get more of the same.

I'd give it a good drink to after all that, it will also make sure there's no air pockets around the disturbed roots. -
It's just had a fraction under 4 inches of rain in less than 24 hours! My feeling is it would have withstood the wind if the soil it was in hadn't been pretty much liquefied. But thanks for the tip, will water it after it's dried out a bit.Comment
