  • Green small shiny ?beetle

I found 2-3 of these in my greenhouse today.... when I touch them to try and get them off the stem/leaf they kind of jump. Anyone know what they are and if they will destroy my veg plants.... found on sweet basil, chilli plant

Have a google for green beetle images - there are lots.

We might need a piccy Carly, if you can take one before they jump.

Ok, it's not that clear... I found this one on a basil leaf I brought in. I put him in the bin.... I guess they look shiny green in the sunlight but he doesn't look so colourful now.

Are they damaging the leaves? I'm a softy with beetles. If they're not doing any harm I leave them be

As basil is related to mint, could it be green mint leaf beetle?

                  Endless wonder.

Yes, I thought it was a flea beetle originally but they don't like basil so it could be this one.

If it is, then you need to get rid of them ASAP!
Those things munched their way through my mint at a rate of knots like a lily beetle devours lilies!

Rosemary beetle looks similar?...not got time to check...sorry!

                        Just checked!
The rosemary beetle has purple and green stripes, so probably isn't that ?

If it's that small and it jumps it's almost certainly a flea beetle. There are several species of them. Some are metallic greenish and some like to eat basil.
