  • Little maggots runner beans?

I have some germinating in a grow house but I noticed today there a some tiny white maggots on the soil. Any ideas?

Visible maggots aren't a good sign in soil with germinating seeds, most maggoty things either enter and eat the tasty inside of the seeds or eat the emerging shoots. It might be that the compost has been a bit wet encouraging the conditions. Have the seeds been there long and have your beans started germinating? It might be worth starting some fresh seeds using fresh compost.

I had this problem with verve compost - they turned out to be fruit flies which ate all my seedlings and are now a pain in the bum. I'd get rid of the seeds and the compost they're in and start again - mine appeared in compost which was covered so I assumed they were already in the compost (this could be wrong! )
