  • Dracunculus vulgaris - Dragon lily

Has anyone grown Dragon lilies aka Stink Lily

DRACUNCULUS VULGARIS SEEDS (Dragon Arum, Voodoo Lily, Stink Lily, Dragonwort, Ragons)

The flowers are said to smell like rotting meat to attract flies for pollination. I have several rooted offshoots and can't decide where to plant them! If anyone has experienced the stink could they tell me how bad it really is, to help me decide!

I have some out in the garden, they stink of rotting meat (the first time I smelt them, I went looking for an animal corpse)and are surrounded by flies in the warmth of summer.
I can smell them from 6 feet away--I haven't got a great sense of smell.
I do not look after them, they just come up every year.

Feed the soil, not the plants.

They stink to high heaven YUK

If you do really want to grow them, plant them as far away from the house/anywhere you sit outside as you can!
