  • Scientists Discover Tasty Tomatoes

Did anybody else see this article:

End of tasteless tomatoes as scientists discover long-lost 'flavour genes'*

I must admit it made me laugh. I've been growing Heritage/Open Pollinated tomatoes for years because they taste better than supermarket varieties. Supermarket varieties have been chosen for shelf life and ease of picking for years so they've never tasted as good.

I noticed that the only "successful" GM crop was a tomato which kept its shape even though it was ripe and tasty. Then the company got bought by Monsanto and everything went downhill from there.
