  • Growing indian holy basil

    Hello All
I'm a beginner of gardening. I have few plants in a pot.
I'm growing Indian holy basil in a pot since April. Icouple of plants growing OKish. Some of the plants are not thriving. As of now I keep it in indoor near by bright sunny window.. Does it need a grow light for winter.
Sorry if it's a silly question.

    Thanks
    Urmi

Hello and welcome SKG where are you based? This info will help with your question.
Ive never grown indian Holy basil but most plant will slow down, go dormant, look tatty, or die back during the winter.
Have you got any photos? Are you just trying to get it through the winter. Or do you expect to harvest from it?

#dont be afraid to ask questions! Nothing is silly

      Thanks for quick reply scarlet.
I'm in Birmingham. I will post a photo tomorrow. Yes I want to harvest little bit and keep the plants as long as possible and save some seeds.

I've always sown in April and treated as an annual

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Your plant looks OK to me. Maybe pinch out the growing tips for use and to keep the plant bushy. Its a short-lived perennial according to
