  • Compost bin arrived!!!

The compost bin I ordered from the council has arrived today along with an 'how to' guide! I only ordered it on the 10th of April so really chuffed with quick delivery! However, not moved into my house yet to getting frustrated as there are so many gardening jobs I could be doing. Maybe the current owner wouldn't mind if I popped round and started clearing the garden!!! hehe

Does anyone know if there is a similar scheme for water butts?

You are lucky i ordered one through the recycle now website in the 1st week of march and still waiting for delivery from the couriers DHL

If you want a water butt I bought one from wilkinsons last year for £15, + £5 for the stand.

Hi Catbud, You should also be able to order one from your local council. It will come from the same department as the Compost bin so will probably be about the same delivery time. Here in East Yorkshire my council do the Water but with the base, chiuldsafe lid and rain diverter kit for £34.95 including delivery and are even throwing a free watering can in with each order.

Yorkshire Water is selling discount compost bins here in South Yorkshire. Well, where I am at least. £6 for a compost bin plus free delivery Bought one, but just waiting now.

I might try Wilkinsons for a Waterbutt.

I just ordered my dad a compost bin for £6 from his area. I got mine for £4 where I am but it is slightly smaller. Wish our council did water butts. Will try Wilkos too.

              Hi,

Hull City Council are doing a big push on recycling at the mo and are offering Compost bins for £6.00 and bases for £5.00 including delivery. A snip if you are in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Catbud, East staffordshire were offering water buts on their website, it worked out at about £27 for the but, drainpipe diverter and stand. they had hidden the offer away very well though, its under recycling somewhere. I think the company listed will deliver to other areas as well.
