  • Newbies needing advice

Hello, Hubby & I have just taken over an allotment. It is a little overgrown and will need some clearing. There are some fruit trees/bushes that we plan on keeping but there are a few things that we are not sure of as we are both novices. Could you offer some advice on what they maybe?

Not certain, here's what I think the first 2 might be
      1 - Teasel?
      2 - Ground Elder ?

Thank you for the replies. We thought it might be damson as there is another on the plot but it looked slightly different. We have identified a pear & damson tree and some raspberry, gooseberry & redcurrant and a possible blackcurrant bush. The rest seems to be a selection of overgrown weeds.

                  Hi & Welcome

                  1. ? globe thistle (ornamental)

                  2. The one with burr seed heads and yellow flowers looks like wood avens. Invasive - get rid!

                  3. Plum or damson - as Norfolk grey.

Pic 3 Plum or Damson, as already mentioned, be aware of the maggot that may lurk inside them, check before you eat or cook them, the fruit not the maggot that is...

Best of luck with your new allotment.
