  • Is to too early for direct sowing of........

    Beetroot
    Carrots
    Parsnips

I'm in the midlands and am really keen to get going, can I sow the above direct now?

Beetroot would be going in raised beds that were filled with topsoil approx 3 weeks ago.

Carrots and parsnips will be going in containers of MPC.

    Thanks in advance

They should be OK. However you could test the soil.

Take a small boy remove all garments in the lower regions and get him to sit on the soil. If he doesn't leap up because the soil is cold to his nether regions then the soil is warm enough.

I'm just concerned that his reaction may be directly proportional to the size of carrot I end up with..
