    hi all ,i got a woodford nog ale kit for crimbo and i set it away in the fv, i bottled it after 7 days and put it into bottles with half a teaspoon of sugar but so far the sugar is just sitting on the bottom ,do you think i should put some more yeast in each bottle ? any thoughts welcome ,cheers

    Hi!

    How long has it been bottled for?

    I used to make kit brews, the bottled conditioned ales would sit happily for weeks/months.
    I found it easier to use malt extract to condition, it dissolves into the beer better.
    Give them a very gentle mix, not a shake! just try to get the sugar to dissolve, keep them at room temp and watch them for a week or two, there should definitely be enough yeast left in the brew.

    You should see a layer of sediment forming on the bottom.

      hi mate its been in the bottles for 4 days ,yes im going to leave these till july as i like to leave them to mature in glass bottles as it tastes better its a 2 tin kit so no spray malt or brewing sugar was needed in the 1st fermentation and i used brewing sugar for the 2nd fermentation ,cheers

        There should be more than enough yeast in there

        First time I did it, I thought that it was sugar, but was a mix of sugar and sediment separating out. They were fine

        Try one in a couple of weeks to prove it
        Never test the depth of the water with both feet

        The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

          They'll be fine then!
          The two can kits were always soooo much better than the one can kits with sugar.

            ok thanks i`ll pop them away and leave them to do their thing ,its my 1st two can kit and i am really looking forward to trying it and didnt want to mess it up and i normally do lager than ales so i wasnt sure ,cheers people

              that's a really fast ferment if it only took 7 days ,did you check the S.G before bottling/ priming, only asking as if it wasn't quite there and you have added extra sugar the bottles could blow.
              don't be afraid to innovate and try new things
              remember.........only the dead fish go with the flow
