I'm thinking 5 or 6 for a 65 Litre Dustbin. Am I on the right lines?

I planted 5 sarpo mira in an old water butt, which would be a bit bigger than a dustbin, and got 4.1kg of potatoes. sounds good, i heard 10litres of soil to one spud. Like penellype said lots of sun and remember they love a good watering but donīt over water they rot

75ltr black plastic dustbin with Picasso main crop. I used to do 5 but now stick with 4, with no loss of yield, I do six bins.
Even with 4 plants watering can become an issue in summer if they are in full sun, which mine are. One of the problems is getting the water down to where it is needed, people water until the seen compost is wet and stop. To get round this I ensure I have really good drainage and leave a 3 to 4 inch gap between the top of the compost and the edge of the bin, this means I can water by pouring a full 2 gallon bucket straight into the bin, this way the compost is nice and moist all the way through.
As to yield I reckon on about 20 to 24 pounds per bin my best ever was just over 25lb and my worst 17lb.Potty by name Potty by nature.
