  • Carrot Juice Drink Recipe ?

Do any of you nice nice people have a good recipe for making a carrot drink.

My local shop used to sell a polish one a while back, but no longer.

I'm sure it was basically just carrot and apple juice - however, I was wondering if anything else was added and what ratios of each ingredient was best.

I'not normally one for breakfasts, but I'd like something healthier than just coffee to start off my day before work.

    Thanks in advance.

have a gogle,it usually needs either straining or a high wizz blender for that job, unless you not mind the bits, you can put any combination of all sorts this way,i do believe a drop of water is added, have seen demonstration in a costco store the other week, very good, till they say the price

We have a juicer and put all sorts in it. the stalks from broccoli, apple, cucumbers, beetroot, celery, pears, spinach, everything i mean everything. just need to remember for all those bitter tasting veggies to add some sweetness like carrots, apple, pears
Its great for using up leaves from plants that you wouldn't normally use. the worst past is cleaning the machine afterwards. the chickens love the pulp or it goes into soups.

oh forgot to say you do loose most of the fibre which your body needs to break down the sugars from the veg and fruits, and some can have a lot of sugar.

Yeh, this is the bit that concerns me.

Thanks both - we've got a juicer (never really used), so I might play with a few things over the next week.

If you look online there is so much info on it, loads about adding it to a million different recipes. To be fair you really do not need that much fruit, maybe half a apple for a large glass of juice
I always thought it is still better to drink it than not to, but then again i do not have a sweet tooth take my warm drinks without sugar and i can not remember the last time i drank that brown liquid stuff
All fruit juices you buy will still be worse than the stuff you make as well.

I have a juicer bought at least 10 years ago. I used it a few times, then decided it was easier and just as nice to eat an apple and a carrot, than fiddle with the thing to juice them and drink them, then have the bother of cleaning the machine afterwards.

Life is too short to juice a carrot.....

              Endless wonder.

Fair enough, but I don't actually like eating raw carrots unless it's been grated.

But, I absolutely love drinking carrot based drinks.

I suppose life is too short to bother growing carrots as well, they are that cheap and available in the shops - but guess what, I go through that total nonsense each year also.

I didn't really like carrots much until I grew my own as I find bought ones have little taste whereas my home grown ones are delicious - plus they're a crop that takes so little effort and brightens up my plate over winter

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I grow my own also - but it takes a bit of more effort than buying a bag from morrisons.

My post was more aimed at the 'Lifes too short' comment - I don't particularly like a eating raw carrot (even one I've grown myself) - I'll quite happily spend 5 minutes cleaning out my juicer if it means I can enjoy juiced carrot though.

The Mrs makes a carrot drink which is probably similar to the Polish one, just half and half, apples and carrots. Probably find all singing all dancing recipes on the net though, with cinnamon, a twist of lime etc

Can usually get a glass of juice out of 2 and 2 depending on the size of the apples/carrots.

Had a great year growing carrots, probably the easiest veg this year, no trouble apart from something eating the odd one from below but we still got loads fresh and froze loads to stop the mice getting them in the cellar. Havent bought any since May-June. Difference in taste is unreal, shop ones are bland.

Carrot, apple, parsley and ginger is my fave...just don't overdo it on the ginger, otherwise it'll be the only thing you taste.

One of my favourites is juice of an orange, a couple of carrots (depending on size) and an apple. Add sparkling water or sugar-free lemonade to make it go a bit further! Delicious
