    i would like to grow some next year i can provide a pic of the one we have carved so you can see what it looks like

    I would say there are more then one variety in the shops and that here the varieties are more limited then in the US.
    Have a look here All About Pumpkins - Pumpkin Varieties
    They list a large number of types anad I guess that you find one that takes you fancy.

    Search on google for "halloween pumpkin variety" there is a lot, "halloween carving pumpkin variety"

    These also list several: https://extension.illinois.edu/pumpkins/varieties.cfm
    Check the ones like Spooktacular, Autumn Gold, Jack O Lantern - the names of 2 are likely a clue.

    The Jack O Lantern variety is grown for carving not eating and has a thicker rind to make this easier.
