  • Favourite weather information source

    Hi All

As gardeners we are intimately connected to the weather and I was wondering what are your favourite sources of weather information.

I do not watch the news at all and i don't listen to the radio so I have to find information online.

My go to source tends to be the Met Office website for my area. You can type in your town or area and it is constantly updated so you have to check it regularly.

So where do you get your weather info from?

    Paul

I like Metcheck, Metcheck.com - Hang On.. Let's find your location first.... It remembers your postcode and there's loads of detail. Seems to be more accurate than some sites, too.
My gardening blog: In Spades, last update 30th April 2018.

I like Metcheck too because they write in a way that I can understand and make me larf.
      Quite accurate too, I've found

          xcweather

I use it for work and for the plot... much more accurate than the BBC.

I'm with Jay. Didn't water the toms day before yesterday because I was expecting a downpour yesterday and didn't want them to be over-watered. Rain was forecast again today as I stood out in the bright sunshine watering the garden.

In our village everyone used to ask a local farmer, they all swore his forecast knocked the socks of the others. Until they asked him for his forecast one day and he said "Can't tell ya co's me telly has broke down"

I don't find any of them particularly accurate but looking at the sky works very well

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

We use the Norwegian Meteorological institutes site:

                        yr.no

Seems reliable for temperature predictions and general weather although the rainfall is usually a bit off.

bbc or itv local news, their all rubbish but those two are my preffered source of rubbish , with Jay all the way .

The local radio station i listen to if im in the mood for music will tell me that it is cloudy with drizzle when it is actually sunny and in the mid twenties lol, thats sky news for you

I used to ask my dad, he could look outside and instinctively knew how the day would pan out, if wind, rain or snow was on the way he just knew it and almost always right. His father was the same.

Sadly both gone we now have to depend on the tv weather forecast...not nearly as accurate.

No matter:the allotment is lovely, the tadpoles have legs, my sea kale has germinated and I am glad to be home.
