  • !! Help !!

I am planning on making a small vegetable plot in my garden. So many questions. Size of plot? My garden is approximately 20m x 20m. Raised bed or not? What veg to plant etc? Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I would suggest a raised bed as it keeps things tidy in a small area. What to grow? What you like to eat. In a small area forget things like spuds and courgettes they take up too much room.

How big a veg patch are you thinking about? You could think about square foot gardening.

Do you or your neighbours have cats?
I had to abandon raised beds at home because my next door neighbours had eight cats between them....all of which saw my beds as large litter trays.

Cats aside, make the patch as big as you can but keep each bed under four foot wide...this veg growing lark is very quickly addictive!

Beachgrove Garden BBC 2 early in the morning has got a report about how much and what you can grow in a 1 metre square bed if you get a chance to watch it.
I would recommend having a good mooch around this site as you will pick up a load of good ideas on not only what but how, where and when. Good Luck.
