Looks fantastic but, call me a sceptic, does that first link really say 1 shell = 100,000 litres of remedy? If so that's potent stuff..

Yes, that's what I thought. I really need to do a lot more reading into it.

Alternatively you could just forget you ever heard of it and spend your reading time on something more promising?

It occurs to me that it would be quite tricky to construct a formal double-blind test for the effectiveness of this treatment. Your "control" plot would have to be treated with water that did not contain the treatment. But how could you be sure? Wherever you got the water from it might still contain the memory of a snail shell from way back, unbeknown to the experimenter, making it the same as the agrohomeopathic treatment and thus invalidating the test.

Like a lot of things Martin, we can only take it on what we read & hope the research is accurate.

Homeopathic remedies are based on the theory that water has a memory. You give the water the sniff of the odd atom of something and it miraculously takes on the powers of that thing. Usually it is used to treat like with like, and it therefore figures that they are using snail shell to repel slugs and snails.

I was quite surprised to see that it was only 100,000 litres. My understanding is that if you buy a bottle of a liquid homeopathic remedy there is at the most 1 molecule of the cure in it, but I may have got that wrong. It is certainly extremely dilute. The pills are just sugar with a sniff of the remedy, I think.

All of this is from memory - there was someone at the stables where I keep my horses about 6 years ago who swore by homeopathy. My opinion is that it can't possibly work, but people say it does, and not just as a placebo, but on animals too. I am not convinced though.
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

You'll have guessed that I'm with Wikipedia on this one: "Homeopathy is considered a pseudoscience. It is not effective for any condition, and no remedy has been proven to be more effective than placebo." Frankly it appals me that there are several NHS homeopathic hospitals and some GP practices also offer homeopathic treatment. Taxpayers' money should have been used more wisely.

Agrohomeopathy belongs in the same bucket.

Definitely sounds intriguing. However, the big steps seem to be in getting the potency, which oddly enough don't work when you click on them. Found one going in circles and it talks about grinding and dissolving to eliminate toxins (how many toxins can a burnt snail shell have? ) and releasing dormant properties.....

If anyone does try it, don't forget to let us know how it goes, good or bad

I don't understand how Homeopathy can work, given the dilution involved, but I wouldn't knock it without trying it. If animals can be treated successfully with homeopathy (and there can be no placebo effect with animals) then why shouldn't it also work with slugs and plants?
Next time I find some empty snail shells, I will be crushing them up, adding them to the watering can and watering my vulnerable plants.
If it works, the sceptics here will never believe me
