Don't know I'm afraid, but I've always wondered if they worked - can't see how they don't get soggy and fall to bits?

there is a site on the web that shows you how to fold paper pots from newspapers. I gave it a go and have to say the resulting pots were firm and thick enough to withstand a lot of water. Here is the link to the site.http://www.geocities.com/newspaperpots/
If you double the size of the paper by using a whole sheet of a broad sheet newspaper rather than half the resulting pot is about 12cm square and quite big enough for larger potting on.

ooohh, they are good, might have a go! OH's are good, he has made me 20+, some 3 - 4" and some in a potting on size!

I thought if I used a cat litter tray they would all sit okay? (visions of cat crossing legs and eying the seedlings!)

The only problem with the wooden former is that it only comes in one size. If you're any good with a lathe, you could tyurn them in various sizes, Otherwise, you can make a variety of sizes of paper pots by using different bottles/jars as formers.

Join the club Kimbo. I've just had eight tries and cannot fathom out how to make them...can anyone enlarge upon the insructions please? I do use paper pots made round a wine bottle (what else?) and sometimes toilet roll inners but these pots look so elegant. Please enlighten us someone.

Have a look at website called self sufficient-ish. They have instructions for making newspaper pots, amongst loads of other great stuff. Cannot remember which grape first mentioned this site - think it was slovenia4us - if it was .....good call, really good site.
