  • A Glut of Broad Beans

Has anyone got an easy recipe for making falafel using fresh broad beans or is this impossible? Can I dry BB in the oven or must they be dried on the plant? First time I have had a very good crop and I would like to try something other than just freezing .

I've used this recipe before and it worked out well :-

BBC - Gardening Blog: Alys Fowler's broad bean falafels

then theres this from the Guardian :-

if you want to save some seed for next year they need to be dried on the plant but if you just want to dry some for eating overwinter pick and leave them on a tray.
    Location....East Midlands.

Thank you Bren.that is very helpful. I shall certainly save seed as these are a dwarf variety which makes the much easier for me to handle

          Hi

Broad bean humus is brill with chicken, beef,or lamb and it's does use the surplus up quickly without waste.

I add garlic, chilli, parsley, coriander to make different versions even roasted peppers and a good glug of good oil.

A good pitta bread or celery stick for dipping is also brill

Will last two or three days in fridge but in my house does not get the chance however I am glad that it is not wasted

          Happy gardening
