  • Miniature lemon tree died

Late last year I was enchanted by a miniature lemon tree that I saw in the houseplants section of my local garden centre.. against better advice, I bought it and brought it home, and planted it in a small plastic trough. It looked good, and I put it on the windowsill which overlooks an airwell - plenty of light during the day, but no direct sunlight at all.

Well, it was nearly winter then, and little by little, the leaves started dropping off, and so did the fruit. The temperature was never below 16C in the flat, and I always tried not to over or under-water the plant but nothing seemed to stop the leaf drop. Eventually the plant died, and since then I've been reluctant to get a replacement because I feel sure I'd kill it too.

Has anyone successfully grown miniature lemon trees here, without the benefit of a greenhouse?

    Joint funeral

our lemon tree ( I asked for a grapevine) had three lemons last year, this year it is busy flowering and dropping leaves until it looks like a beech tree in winter.

I fear our window lemon in its 9 inch pot is going to die too. Is there a common reason?
