    Hi guys
bought this outdoor cucumber seed (still no greenhouse boo hoo!) and planted 2 seeds on edges of a 5in pot.
Any ideas how long it takes for them to germinate? I can't decide whether a) I just planted too early, b) they are hard to grow or c) they just take ages to germinate and I need to be patient!
Any one else tried this variety? Also, if so, how many plants have you planted?
    Thanks

Cucumbers take about a week to germinate. Last year I grew 8 cucumber plants outdoors and they were really easy to grow. We trained them up cane sticks to keep the cucumbers off the ground. I haven't grown Tanja though.

Weather has also been mad, so this doesn't help with germination. Are you using a propagator or cloche to get them started?

        HI
I am trying to germinate in a pot on the windowsill as we are quite exposed outside.
Its definitely been more than a week
        prehaps I'll try again!

Give them longer. Everything is so much slower with this dreadful weather that we are having.

            Hi cotton,
I sowed 8 seeds about ten days ago and so far only one has germinated. I'm not giving up hope as the weather has been so cold. Have faith, they will grow.

I planted 4 seeds on my window sill two weeks ago and now have 2 plants with two true leaves. No sign of the other 2 though. I suppose 50% is OK?

                Thanks for the encouragement guys!
Prehaps I will leave them a little longer and just plant up another pot in case!

                  Hi,

I planted 5 seeds all up in around 6 days.

They are really tall about 6" but still only have 2 leaves, have I done something wrong?

just a quick question - do you plant cucumber seeds on their side? I am going to try planting again but don't want to waste any more seed!

Sarah Raven said last week on GW to plant the seeds vertically so that water doesn't lie on them and rot them. Sowed mine 6 days ago and no sign yet....
