  • Morrisons Flower Buckets

I took BigMally's advice and went to my local Morrisons to get some flower buckets for my parsnips, the lady was glad to be rid of them, so I've not got about 50 of the large ones (about12" deep) for £3.

My question is, I know I can do a single seed potato in each, and a few carrots / a few parsnips as I've been reading the other posts on here, but is there anything that just won't work in them?

I've got some beet root and some dwarf runner beans, will they be ok? Spacing isn't so much of an issue as I have so many pots!

    Thankyou

I use square foot gardening planting rates for the 12" ones and it seems to work really well.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

I use them cut down to 6" deep for radish.

Full size for spuds, toms, runners beans, my spare cauli's and calabrese also go in them at one plant per bucket.

Good for chillies and peppers too.

If using them for spuds I'd only grow first earlies. Maincrop and seconds need a bit more room to reach a decent size, although I did once manage 3lb of Charlotte from a single flower bucket but that was the exception.

It may be getting a little quieter now. The best time obviously is just after Mothers Day.

Got 8 for 99p today, Morrisons Chippenham. Not as cheap as some seem to get em, but still cheap.

Thanks to those who suggested this!

I managed to pick up a set on Friday. Hadn't quite a few left.
Looking forward to growing something in them!
