Marchogaeth, Mr F does one called small sugar. Is that the one you mean?

Thanks M. I did look at that but thought it was probably F1 - I'll have to ask. The one I had is this one which was from FrostyFreckle originally but just doesn't seem available in Britain any more.

Don't f1 seeds usually have f1 after the name? To justify higher prices, I guess. So if it doesn't say f1 would it be safe to assume not f1?

Wendy is correct - F1 seeds have to be advertised as such. The small sugar are not F1. Check this page, that shows clearly the pumpkins that are F1's. I believe New England pie is similar to the small sugar - both bred for baking (sweet baking, as opposed to stews, soups, or carving etc)

Thanks for the info. The reason I wasn't sure was that nothing in the catalog seemed to have F1 next to it!

Also, I have to admit, I like it for stews/soups and baking because it holds it's shape quite well during cooking and yet liquidises really easily if you want a bit of smoothness. Anyway Frosty Freckle has, very kindly offered to send me some more so I will be more on the ball with seed collecting this year (famous last words).

Nope, not really that sweet to be honest. Blue banana were my favourite this year..

Taste, storage ability, texture - and because they look awesome!

Got my seeds from real seeds, some info on there about them - I found them quite easy to peel (I do have some very good knives though).

Most of my pumpkins this year had larger than normal seed cavities - not sure what caused that but I got a lot of useable flesh from these and my blue Hubbard.
