I managed to obtain some guava seeds. I was wondering if anyone knew what soil they prefered. I wasn't sure so I looked on the internet and the website I found stated acid. So to be safe I planted some in multipurpose and some in ericacious. One in the multipurpose compost has sprouted but the other doesn't seem to have done anything and I've gotten confused. so any advice if anyone has tried it would be gratefully appreciated.

I think the compost is more critical when they are growing than germinating. They prefer a light, open soil for germination. Maybe the ericaceous was a bit heavy?

You might be right flummery. Then again... I'm not sure what to put it in once it's gotten big enough. I've never grown them before. so I'm flying by the seat of my pants on this one. At least one has germinated. So I'm happy on that. just waiting for it to be big enough to have 2 leaves next. And then what to do there? well... I dont know anyone in this country that has grown them so if I'm wrong...please let me know. All advice is helpfull.

you seem to be. I'm never sure which JI to choose when looking at those things so I usually use multipurpose unless it's acid loving. thanks again flummery.
