Advice please
Have you got any advice/ tips on growing chillis as I have started to grow a chilli plant in my plastic greenhouse. I am new to gardening this season.

Thanks for the laugh Shirl. What kind of chillie is it - not a big jim, that's for sure.
Stu, depends what kind of chillie you are growing . Some you just plant and stand back and watch them go. Others - well if you want to get into the Guinness Book of Records with Big Jim - it's a different question.

How to grow chilli's - by Shirlthegirl.
1. Get free seeds with Grow Your Own magazine.
2. Plant 3 seeds in a 3 inch pot and put on the kitchen windowsill.
3. When 3 seedlings appear - throw a party - look for the seed packet for instructions on what to do next.
4. Yell at husband for throwing away seed packet. His response was, "Well you had planted them - thought you were finished with the packet."
5. Decide they will have to make do with water and planting on when they are bigger.
6. Put them into 5 inch pots on their own once they have a couple of sets of real leaves.
7. Pot into 10 litre flower buckets when they start to flower and look too big for the 5 inch pots.
8. Put them in the plastic greenhouse and feed with tomato feed when the tomatoes get fed.
9. Laugh when the chillis turn out to be fiery and hubby looks for a fire extinguisher, whimpering, "Napalm"...
10. Cry when the plastic greenhouse blows down, but cheer up cos one chilli plant survived - bring it indoors to spend the winter in the dining room - put it in the new greenhouse next season and laugh at the funny shaped chilli!

LOL! Best instructions for chilli growing STG, thanks. It sounds a bit like my life veg growing too although Mr EB doesn't throw the packets away, I put them somewhere safe

Sorry Alice - thought I had answered your query - it is apparently a Cayenne. I didn't make note of the type when they came free last year as I assumed I would have the packet to refer to.
