Saw it last night and that was pretty spectacular.
As for lunar planting, it works all the time, if you follow its cycle.

Just been out looking and spotted it in a gap between two clouds.

Tried to see the moon on the way home last night, but it was very cloudy and probably not dark enough. I'll try again tonight.
