    <snip>

    It's out all over the place now, I'm still yet to find a decent place that's not along a road - but on my drive to work I see probably hundreds of elder trees. Bonkers! I've also spotted an apple, and I think a pear along the M4.

    I know where loads of pears are along the M5 - all the decent spots I find are always along busy roads!

    Chris, get a good ordinance map of your area. You are looking for footpaths and cemeteries neighbouring fields. You are looking for places where the farmer doesn't get to with his hedge cutter. Cemeteries are good for this as they tend to let the hedgerow grow around the cemetery, you get a natural habit good for sloes, crab apples, blackberries, rosehips and haws and Elderflowers/berries.

    What about the Bristol and Bath Railway path which is only a mile or so from you, take a reccy on the bike, you'll probably find more than the elder there.
    I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

        Could well be part of the taff trail, but if you google map it, its calls it the bristol and bath railway path.

        Yes it is the taff trail between the bottom of Nantgarw hill and Pontypridd. Don't ask me why goggle call it the Bristol and Bath!!

          After I watched the council spraying the railway tracks along the valley lines for knotweed I'd rather not use owt from a railway track

          Are you on about the taff trail?

              Yep I've seen elder there - but again it's the road side - I'll have a walk down there (bike is out of use at the mo!)

                But.....most of the Taff Trail is some distance from the road. Get out of your car Chris, and walk

                    I'm getting the impression that Chris only travels by car VC!!

                    Everything he sees is from behind his wheel.

                    Bottom of nantgarw hill mate, on your right the taff trail is at least a few hundred metres away from the road. How far exactly are you expecting the trees to be from the road??

                      True, true - I thought the part Mikey was on about was the part that ran alongside Nantgarw hill ! Had a look on the maps and see the bit he is on about - I've walked the bit near Cardiff, will have a gander at the bit near me!

                              I believe so, thought it was more - it may have had its price dropped as it's been on the market for a while now, and I've seen a few agencies dealing with it now!
