  • Urgent help. Leaf roll on tomato plant

I've recently reported some starter tomato plants in our conservatory. They have been thriving in there and all are starting to flower. However I noticed this evening a severe care of leaf roll on the top leaves and branches (see pics). I this due to overwatering or are they dying for a feed? I'm not sure If the compost I used had fertiliser or not, and it has been 2 weeks since they were reported from starter pots.

Tomato leaves do sometimes roll. It's nothing to worry about. All composts contain some fertilizer, generally enough for 4-6 weeks growth. However with your tomatoes you are wanting to encourage flowers and fruit so when the fruit begin to set you need to give them a tomato feed. Read the instructions on the bottle as what you do exactly does depend on whether you have them inside or out, and I can never remember exactly.

Agree with above. Every year we discuss this and it's perfectly normal, especially at night or if temperatures drop a little. Once flowers appear feed weekly with a high potash feed.

They may have been too hot in your conservatory - so rolled their leaves to slow up transpiration. See what they're like tomorrow morning and increase the ventilation or shade if its another hot day.

Some varieties are more prone to this than others. Nothing to worry about
