  • quick muddy question - is it too early to mulch

there are probably none of you on here as like me you'll all be running around in the sun, frantically trying to catch up on 3 months of gardening...but if anyone is, I need to empty compost bin 2 as no.1 is full, but have nowhere to put the composty contents except on my vegetable bed/in my pots. I've read conflicitng advice - DO mulch in late winter (which I suppose this is) or DON'T mulch when the soil is (still cold). Grapes, quickly, WHAT SHALL I DO?

I mulch all year round. No idea who says you can't mulch at various times of the year.

So do I, the only time I don't is when the ground is too dry.

I mulch all year, in theory. In practice, I mulch when it's warm enough for me to be outside.

You "aren't meant to" mulch on frozen ground in case it traps the cold in the soil. I've no idea if that really happens or not
