I am going to convert a 1m square wooden sandpit to a herb bed so will be filling it with compost. What would be the ideal mix for most herbs? Just a load of mpc or mix in a bag or two of grit as well?

My herbs are in one of the worst parts of the garden - right on top of the stones etc that make up a soak away.
I added a very little mature "poo" before planting and the plants are as happy as Larry (whoever he is!).If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC! -
Most of 'em like good drainage - I'd add the grit, myself.March is the new winter.Comment
