  • Chuffed to bits..........

    I have PEACHES.............loads of em!

After a failure growing apricots last year (tree died) this year I have loads of peaches on my pot grown red summat or other peach tree in the greenhouse.
They are growing really fast, yesterday the size of a pea, today the size of a cob nut!

Lickle miniature peaches covered in down!

Don't know whether they get the equivalent of June drop as in apples but I would imagine the tree would struggle to ripen so many?
Going round the peach blossom with a paintbrush at flowering time certainly seems to have paid off!

    Congrats Snadger

Beechgrove did a bit on peaches the other year and they recommended thinning the fruits can't remember what too though.
    Location....East Midlands.

Congratulations. May i ask how large your peach tree is, is it dwarfing rootstock with being in your greenhouse, or do you have a large greenhouse that accomodates a larger tree with more vigorous growth?

Once fruit forms i have never noticed a `june drop` of fruit on peach trees, i never thin the fruit at all , the peaches are usually a bit smaller than giant shop ones , but larger than `value` shop peaches

Nice one Snadge, I hope to get some next year off mine as all I have is leaf this year so far. I have also read to thin them out so you have less but bigger fruits.

Think so Binners, red summat or other and I can't imagine there being that many peach varieties starting with red!
