  • *waves* Hi everyone!

I'm new to growing fruit and veg. I'm living with my parents and we just bought a new house. Previous owners were big gardeners but sadly due to the declining health and subsequent deaths the garden fell by the wayside. We are in the process of chopping, hacking and digging trying to get it sorted out!

We were very lucky as a greenhouse was left in the garden. We've emptied it out, hacked back the 2inch thick brambles that were very happily enconsed in there and concreted the floor. We have a 'veg' patch inbetween the double garage and the greenhouse (approx 15ft x 15ft), the greenhouse then another patch of land (approx 18ft x 15ft) then the grass and flower beds (approx 25ft x 35/40ft). Yeah, its a massive garden!

I've gotten alittle carried away and my greenhouse is now home to two tomato plants, 2 cucumber plants, 2 chilli plants, 11 sweet peas, i tray of lettuce, i tray of fennel, 2 small trays of radishs, one corgette plant and 26 sunflowers seedlings! I then subscribed to the mag and am receiving the 73 free plants including brocolli, more lettuce, beetroot, beans, cabbage and squash.

oh boy, is this going to be fun!!!

thanks everyone, we're on a deadline now. I need to have my veg plot ready to plant for my freebie plants arriving. There is no way they will all squish into the greenhouse. Next few weeks are dedicated to deweeding and rotavating the ground, then digging over to get a fine tilth. I'm hoping to encourage all the squash, corgette and cucumber plants to grow up so i can maximise space. I;m also going to buy a notebook and start writing down everything i'm growing and how i find it to grow so i can refer back to it later on. Forgot to mention we have an apple tree, a plum tree, possibly a cherry tree plus several strawberry plants!

Good luck with all that, although you'll be fine, we will cheer you on. Watch your chillis and cucumber in case it gets frosty though

thanks everyone! The bigger plot will be used for 3 compost bays and it has several fruit trees in it so might only be able to squuze in some raspberries canes and maybe a dwarf peach tree? I want as much as i can growing in my plot. i can guarantee at least 1000 questions!!
