Hi, Lidl are selling strawberry crowns from this Thursday in Ireland. I guess the same in the UK? Just wondering if anyone has had success with these? I'm interested in 'Ostara' as it is an ever-bearer. Does anyone grow these? Thank for any advise.

I had a dozen crowns from LIDL last year. They were very good croppers over a long period but I don't remember what type they were, sorry! -
Not had any from Lidl, but I need to get some from somewhere, all but one of my strawberries are dead as door nails. This will be the second year without strawberries unless I get some going. You've jogged my memory into thinking that I bought 2 lots of strawberries for £5 and they were probably Elsanta. I made a couple of pots of jam from them as well as picking them fresh and they were very good. I'm sure this is mentioned elsewhere too but, just in case, LIDL have strawberry plants on Thursday 6 for £3.49 or 2 packs for £6. Varieties Ostara, Elsanta, Sonata or Korona. Also Fruit bushes £3.49 but you all know that already!Comment
