Haven't been around for a good while so don't know if you've had much feedback on different squash varieties.
This year I grew the old standards Crown Prince & Uchiki Kuri
Both cropped reasonably well and are superb quality for eating.
New variety for this year was Golden Nugget - anyone else grown it?
I chose it because I had been looking for bush varieties - most squash take up far too much room. AS a bush it worked well, taking up about the same space as a courgette plant. It also cropped very well with an average of 7 fruits per plant - ranging from cricket ball to bowling ball in size although mostly at the larger end.
The problem I am finding is with the extra tough skin - it's virtually impossible to peel!
I've broken 2 peelers already. Now I am sticking to cutting in half and baking in the skin, either scooping out flesh after cooking or stuffing and serving in the shell. I am quite pleased with the eating quality and will definately be growing again.
