  • growths on stems and leaves!?

    hiya guys
i am a new user of this site so hello all, i have two lemon trees that i have grown from seed, i brought the lemons back from italy 4 years ago, they are now about 2 foot high, i know i prob wont get any fruit off them but they are brill house plants. i have noticed small brown oval shape growths on the leaves and stems on them, they come off easy with the thumb nail, are they some kind of egg, or are they something else? ideas please, thanks a lot. alan

    Could they be scale insects?

Yes, I'd second that, almost certainly a scale insect. You should remove them as they can become a problem and infest other house plants.

If the plants are not too big you can wash the leaves on both sides with soapy water which will get rid of them.
