  • Plant/flower ID please!

I've two of these, one white, one pink-ish.. They're quite nice, would like to move them/split them, but I don't know anything about them. Anyone able to identify what it is please? So I can have a read about them

    Thanks

White one - almost finished flowering

    Thank you!

The flowers look wrong for astilbe http://www.flowers-hut.info/wp-conte...m-300x2257.jpg The flowers look like hebe, but the leaves are wrong for them. I'll have another google.

They have the red stalks/leaves like the astilbe. Have the flowers been out long chris? Just wondering if the flowers are young ones...hence the not looking much like the adult flower.

Yup, they've been flowering for yonks! (edit: the white ones... not sure about the pink ones - it was all covered in weeds until I just weeded it ).

the leaves are the same as in your pic GN - here's the larger versions:

The sun on them doesn't seem to help the photos - I'll get another one tonight. Looking at the RHS page though, Pollys guess seems to be right?

I chopped it hard back ~Feb/Mar, as before then there were reed plants EVERYWHERE. It's very boggy in that section of the garden (Near garden tap/drain).. no idea how the reed got there mind.

My Mum use to grow them, butterflies & bees love them. And the best thing about them chris is they don't get many pest's.

That's good enough for me then! I noticed they flowered last year too (didn't know there was a pink one though!).

I'll bung them in the border, I like easy to look after things

Just re-visited this thread, and I have to agree they are astilbe. I think the angle of Chris's photo of the white one threw me. BTW Chris, astilbe loves moist ground.
