  • Polytunnel Strawberries

Hi all - not sure if this should be in the fruit or undercover forum ...

I've been growing strawberries in my polytunnel this year for the first time. I lifted 6 plants from my outdoor strawberry plot in February and planted them up in a raised bed in the tunnel. To cut a long story short, they've done *fantastically* - I must have harvested about 3kg of fruit from them so far, and they're still producing, which is excellent.

Thing is, I'm not sure what to do with them when they finish fruiting. They're taking up a fair amount of space in the tunnel that I could do a lot with (it's a long time until next spring ...) but I'm not sure if the mollycoddling they've had in there will have turned them into a bunch of softies, so I don't really want to move them back outside.

Any ideas / tips etc on what I could do with them so that a) they'll still be useful plants (they're only a year old, so should have a bit of life left in them) and b) they're not taking up precious polytunnel space when they're not productive.

    Thanks,
    David
