  • Pruning Buddleia Globosa

I planted a Buddleia Globosa last year and although I only got about 6 flowers it was absolutlely covered in bees. As a result I have planted a couple more but i'm unsure about one thing, how to prune it. Obviously i'm looking to achieve as many flowers as possible to attract bees. I have read mixed ideas on how to do this for example 1. cutting it right back like you would a normal buddleia 2. cutting back 2 thirds of the plant 3. leaving it completely

If anyone is certain of how to pune this plant I would be very grateful to know.

Also if it does require pruning would I be too late to do it now if I still want it to flower next year.

    Many thanks

    Here are Alan Tichmarsh's tips.
In short - prune back lightly after flowering, and more structural work in the winter.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Cut back after flowering (now!) but not a dramatically as you would for a 'normal' buddleia - just keep the shape how you like it. It flowers next year on wood that grows this year so it needs time to grow this year before autumn
