  • A place for my left-overs

About 3 or 4 years ago some kind gentleman left a disused water tank at the side of my allotment plot, so not wishing to miss out on such a find, I placed the tank in the middle of my plot, filled it with compost, manure and sieved top soil and thought..what can I put in that? well! to be honest not much planned stuff ever went into it, just my left over plants that I could not find space for else where around my plot... this year it is full to bursting with veg plants, all growing happily, side by side..how lovely.

What do others do with left overs?? apart from give them away...please feel free to post a pic or two if you wish

After offering to family and friends I usually offer them via my facebook site, which not only reaches friends, but someone usually knows someone else who may be looking for them.

Last year I had lots of stuff left over after a church fair so posted on our local freecycle website and loads of people came forward for various reasons - one was just starting up a garden for a women's refuge, another had lost their crop and was too late to start again etc.

Alternatively there's always loads of school summer fairs this time of year and they usually have a plant stall looking for donations.

I know technically that this is still just giving it away - if I had chickens or rabbits I guess they'd tuck in
