  • Hi to you all

Hello to everyone on here - you all look a good bunch so I thought I would try and join in the fun.

Having recently moved back to my home town I was under no illusion that I would be on a hugh waiting list for an allotment - especially as 2 years ago I have to leave my beloved Lottie number 14 to move to the South of the country

Imagine my extreme delight to find there were a few lotties available (rare as hens teeth was the quote from the council lady! ) I made my way there one cold November morning to find a moderately weedy plot on a gentle slope and the plot number was......14!! Always was my lucky number lol. It's now half weeded and looking good!!

I'm looking forward to sharing tips etc with you all. Happy lottying!!!

Hi there Bumbler and welcome to the vine. I think you will find all the advice and ideas you will need here. And it sounds like you will have some of your own to share! Do put some photos of your efforts on the Vine 'cos we are all dead nosy and want to see what is happening!
And if anyone chooses to say that's not true - they are fibbing!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Hi Bumble, I'm in Sutton Coldfield, but only just, I'm the first house past the Staffs/W. Mids border.
Have you been to my mate Barry Procter's nursery at Brown Edge? Once you get used to the fact that he was a farmer, couldn't make enough money at it, so converted to a nursery, yet doesn't know his Stellaria from his Magnolia stellata!! He's a great chap!
There's also Stuart at Barncroft Nurs, neat Rudyard lake (Endon? I always get lost trying to find him!)

                            Hi Jo. :-)

Yes Rosemary a few years since I have visited those nurseries great to hear they are still there (I hope they are) only been back in the area for a few months but I do enjoy nosying around plant nurseries, so much more interesting than garden centers and I should know having once worked at that large one in Shropshire!!!
